Athletic Banquet and Final Dinner for us -- Lady Fire 07-08

The Sunday right before FINALS (grr), which was our last week of school, we had our Athletic Banquet. Usually those days are soo hectic, running around trying to figure out the last touches for outfits, assessing other people's outfits and shoes and accessories, but this day for me was extremely calm. Well, that is until 30 minutes before we were scheduled to be there. My parents called me to tell me that they were stuck on the side of the interstate because their engine had failed. Oh yeah... God is too funny. So I ran and picked them up, they dropped me off at my school allowing me about 10 minutes before the ceremonies actually started, they both left to figure out the car situation, and than came back just in time to see that it was our turn in the procession. Normally coaches get up there and talk for about 5 minutes, maybe stretching it to 10. However, I'm pretty sure my coach was up there a good 20 to 25 minutes. Too funny, but only now looking back at it. I presented along with Bekah for the golf team. So get this ... Bekah made up some lines for us to say, that were extremely corny, mind you, and although they were funny, the thing that got the crowd laughing was the fact that Bekah forgot to take the envelope with the winner's name up there, and so in the middle of our presentation fo the award she ran back to her seat and retrieved it! Too funny!! It was ridiculously long, but worth it. When does a girl not like getting dressed up and looking pretty, when most times she is drenched in sweat and looks like a boy?? I've got some pictures of the banquet for you... although I didn't quite get any full-length pictures of my dress, so you can't see how cute it was... oh and my shoes!! Killer shoes, might I add. lol. All in all it turned out to be a fun night!! Afterward a few of the girls on the team and a girl, who I absolutely admire and love and was on the team last year came and visited, so she joined us for dinner also.

Also on Monday night our Athletic Director invited us to his house where he brought us Sonny's barbeque take-out. The food was awesome, but it was really great just being there all together, and some of us for the last time. Somehow all of us girls were able to get away for a couple hours that night even though we had soo much studying to do. It turned to be a memorable night. We were outside at the clubhouse, sitting under a canopy beside the pool while the sun was setting behind a pond, while a cool breeze was so inviting compared to usual humid nights. How much cuter can it get? We all were seated together in one big circle just talking and laughing and just enjoying being away from school, even if it was but for a short time. Melody, one of our freshman players, is by far one of the greatest people I have ever met. While we were eating she was busily preparing a song for that night. She sang it to us, describing each person on the team in detail and drawing so many laughs in the process. I'm going to get those lyrics. I'm going to miss THIS team next year, however I do know that God knows the team next who and has selected the girls he knows it needs. I trust that.

Done with school and ready for summer!!

Here's some pictures that happened just within the last couple months of being at school. I am finally getting around to posting them.

Last year we took a trip to Shannen's house; she's one of my really good friends at school. We loved going there last year so we decided to make a repeat performance of it again this year. It was a lot of fun! We went to the pool and played around there for a while, shopped, ate amazing food, SUSHI (!!!!!), and watched movies, and just enjoyed being away from school and homework.
