Not only did we get out of school early, but we got to travel to three different states and see the amazing fall colors, eat food other than the cafeteria, and play a little basketball. Actually that last part is a little under-exaggerated. We played 6 games in 7 nights, so I would say by the end of this trip we were tired! Our first game was in Alabama, where the quote of the night was this:
Currie, Desiree and myself are sitting on the bench enjoying the game (we won by the way, and they are an NAIA team so definitely a good win!). Not only are the refs completely blind and not caring at all that our team is getting hit every time down the court, but these Alabama girls are mean. So this is what happens on the bench:
Currie: "Note to self - never get in a fight with an Alabama-girl.
Desiree: "Note to self - never come back to Alabama!"
I realize this is not funny to those of you who weren't warming the bench, but it was ridiculously funny while we were in the moment.
We went on to Nashville where we ended up coming in 2nd in the tournament. We should have definitely won that last game, considering we had the game the entire time except for the last 8 minutes where none of our shots went in. That was hard to lose that game. Hopefully come Naitonals we can play them again.
Nashville was beautiful!!! The weather was perfect, the leaves were just falling, and coach treated us amazing. We went out to eat at a spaghetti restaraunt where we all got somewhat dressed up and had fun eating, and laughing, and taking pictures!
Best comment of the night....
Our whole team was walking around downtown Nashville later that evening. Let me clarify that it was cold and proper attire is required. Needless to say, I was definitely rocking a turtleneck that night. As we are walking past country bars and the amazing sights of Nashville at night, a random guy happens to say:
"Look at the turtleneck on that girl." haha and yes he was referring to me! It pretty much made my night.
Come Sunday we drove to Kentucky and stayed at our rival school's campus. The dorms we stayed at were older and not nearly as nice as ours, but it was fun!! We all stayed up and watched movies and talked and laughed, and ATE, so it was great bonding time.
However, Monday we lost to Kentucky Christian, which really hurt. They have already beaten us twice this year and we really want to get another win on them.
Tuesday we drove to the complete other side of Kentucky and played another NAIA team that at half-time we were losing by 20. Come the end of the game, we only ended up losing by 3! We finally started pulling it together.
Wednesday was pretty much one of the longest days of my life. We woke up at 3:30 and started driving. We lost people along the way at airports and ended up arriving in Lakeland at 9:30 that evening.
Overall the trip was great. We got a taste of some cold weather, saw how quaint and clean Nashville is, and got to know each other better than we thought possible.
